Sam Hennings was born in Macon, Georgia, and raised in Athens, Georgia. The son of a traveling salesman, Hennings decided he wanted to be an actor when he was nine years old. After graduating from Athens High School, Hennings went to the University of Georgia to study business management. After a year and a half as a student, Hennings decided business management wasn’t for him. He left school to try a number of careers, including professional golf. During this time he dabbled in community theatre and toyed with the idea of becoming a professional actor. Friends encouraged him to move Hollywood, and finally in 1985 he took the plunge and headed west. Hennings quickly found work, playing “Jonathan Kaplan” in the pilot for the TV series Moonlighting, and he made guest appearances on shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Hunter, and JAG. His film debut came in 1986 in Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, and his other film credits include Seedpeople, and Drop Zone.
