The official trailer and poster for A Cold Season have been released, offering a look at the new Christmas-set psychological horror movie written and directed by Christian Jude Grillo. Produced by Andrew Hunsicker for Intruder Films, the film will be released in the United States on November 10, 2026, through MVD Entertainment Group.
Set against the snow-covered mountains of Pennsylvania, A Cold Season turns familiar holiday imagery into the backdrop for a story of grief, isolation, murder and psychological collapse, with a psychotic Santa Claus adding a sinister twist to the Christmas setting.
Andrew Hunsicker stars as Jacob White, a lonely man whose quiet winter routine conceals a string of killings. As his grip on reality begins to deteriorate, a mysterious double appears and seems intent on pushing him further toward violence and madness. The story increasingly blurs the boundary between what is actually happening and what may exist only inside Jacob’s fractured mind.
Rather than recreating winter on a soundstage or relying on visual effects, the production filmed in Pennsylvania during real winter conditions. Locations across Bedford, Berks and Blair counties provided natural snowfall, mountain terrain, strong winds, wind turbines and the landscapes surrounding the Blue Knob area.
Grillo explained the importance of the environment to the film: “We wanted winter to feel like another character in the film. The landscape is beautiful, but there’s also something incredibly isolating about it. That became the perfect environment for Jacob’s state of mind”.
A Cold Season marks the third feature completed by Grillo and Hunsicker through Intruder Films in just over two years, following the sci-fi horror movie Intruder and the psychological thriller Neighbor.
The cast also includes Julie Chapin, Paul Monte Jr., Elijah Santoro, Frank Volpe, Daijah Lilly, Cait Wiley, Elizabeth Gehman, Jake Hunsicker and Christian Jude Grillo.
